RECAP: Week 10 -- 03/08 - 03/14/2009
My hubby did the shopping from my list in Week 10...missed the mark on a couple of the BOGOs and a couple other minor missteps later here are his totals:
WEEK TEN:
Stores shopped - 1
Regular price of purchases $79.72
Actual paid after sales and coupons $60.48
Thursday, March 5, 2009
RECAP: Week 9 -- 03/01 - 03/07/2009
Dare we even hope to be back on track now? I know myself pretty well so I am going to say doubtful, but let's just really try to stay focused and not go all haywire again, deal? This week I did three stores...one grocery, and two drugstores. I have learned from the masters (read: other, way better than me, bloggers who are listed on my sidebar) that sometimes you can get some pretty sweet deals at drugstores on food products. Like the Carnation Instant Breakfast that I got at CVS with a coupon and made a profit on the deal with their Extra Care Bucks. Or the 4 boxes of cereal/granola bars I got at Walgreens that worked out to be something like $1.20 per box. Sweet. I told you.
As for other grocery-type shopping, I went all stock up crazy at the grocery today and got 12 jars of peanut butter that were B1G1 because I had four coupons for $1.00 off three. It sounds nuts but the peanut butter worked out to be a DOLLAR each after the sale and coupons and we go through peanut butter like gangbusters at our house. And speaking of stock-up crazy, I am nearing the point of critical mass so I am pondering how to frame my upcoming shopping...or if I should suspend it all together for a week or two. Having never been the stock-up type (ask anyone who knows me and they'll confirm my refrigerator and cabinets have always been known to house only the bare minimum required to keep us all from starving) before this little adventure, I have never had a problem with finding places to store our food. Even with my new kitchen with WAY more storage space than it had before, my freezer, fridge, and pantry are all getting that "I think I could be full" feeling to them. It's pretty cool, actually but I am starting to have trouble remembering what I even have tucked away in there. I may have to switch my focus from food to health and beauty stuff for a little while.
Oh yeah! And did I mention that when I was doing my taxes I came across some grocery receipts from last year about this time? Between February 26 and March 14, 2008 we spent $647 on groceries with almost no savings from sales and no savings from coupons. Even without completely accurate figures for the last week of February I know that we have spent less than that year to date for 2009 -- and that was just a 3-week period! Anyway, on to the totals for week 9.
WEEK NINE:
Stores shopped - 3

See you again for Week 9! :)

RECAP: Week 7 -- 02/15/2009 - 02/21/2009
Week Seven's post is going to be put up in stages. We went to a produce stand and I have put the totals for that trip below. Our actual shopping trip was not that grand...the perils of shopping when hungry - even with a list and restricting myself to sales I managed to go overboard. However, I haven't calculated everything yet. Yes, I realize I am way behind and almost due for Week Eight's post. Not having a computer at home and doing lots of substitute work is wreaking havoc on my blogging.
